There is normally a gap between the two ends of cable that needs repairing after the damaged cable is removed.  The gap can often be 5 to 10cm.

The repair kits offers a 10 cm prolonged single connector that can connect the wires together again, even though the 2 ends of the wires are not close to each other anymore.

To make it the strongest connection possible, it comes with a 2^nd layer protection, that makes the connection even more secure and stable for many years.
